TEDxOrlando is accepting applications
What We Look for When Reviewing TEDxOrlando speaker applications.🎤✨
We’ve received an incredible wave of speaker applications already — and I can tell you this: the ideas coming through Orlando are powerful. But to help you shine even brighter, here’s what really stands out when we review:
1. Lead with the Idea 💡
A great story is wonderful, but at TEDx it has to serve the bigger picture. What’s your idea worth spreading? That’s the heartbeat of your talk.
2. Clarity Wins 🎯
What’s your point? If your application has five different points, you might not actually have one. Simplify. Get laser clear on the one big takeaway you want the audience to leave with.
3. Keep it Tight 📝
TEDx talks are max 18 minutes — and applications get read fast. More words don’t equal more impact. Make it sharp, clear, and concise.
4. Follow the Basics 📋
If we ask for a one-minute video, make it one minute. If we ask for a link now, don’t say you’ll send it later. How you follow instructions matters more than you think.
5. Dare to Be Different 🌟
Unique always catches our attention. Sometimes the most unexpected, even unusual ideas are the ones that linger long after we review them.
6. Don’t Be Afraid of Lightness 😄
Even serious topics can hold a moment of humor or levity. That balance makes your talk memorable and deeply human.
7. Think of the Audience 👥
TEDx audiences aren’t business conference crowds. They’re diverse, curious, and ready to be inspired by fresh ideas. If your pitch is too niche, you might miss the bigger opportunity to connect.
If you’re ready to step onto the red dot and share your idea with Orlando and beyond, apply today. Your voice could be the one that sparks change.
