Documented is looking for pitches about New York’s immigrant communities
From sights and sounds to tastes and traditions, immigrants are an indelible part of what makes New York so special — especially at this time of year. As 2025 comes to a close, and with the holidays upon us, we at Documented want to know: How are New York’s immigrants and immigrant communities observing this holiday season?
What sentimental foods, spirited music, unexpected traditions, or seasonal shops should Documented be shining a light on? How are neighbors and neighborhoods being of service during the season of giving? And at a time of year that is so often about gratitude, reflection and spending time together, how are immigrant families — so many of whom are separated by detention or deportation — finding support, belonging and maybe a little bit of cheer?
We want to hear from you. Send us your holiday stories! While we primarily publish written stories, we may consider pitches in other formats including photography, video or short-form social media content.
