Case Studies 101
If you’re a content creator and you’re not turning your best performing brand partnerships into case studies, you’re leaving serious money and credibility on the table.
We talk a lot about pitching but what happens after you land the deal and deliver results? That’s where your leverage really starts. Case studies are your receipts, and future brand deals depend on them.
Let’s break it down.
What is a case study?
A case study is a branded, visual summary of the impact your content made during a campaign.
Note: I differentiate a case study from a campaign report.
A campaign report is much more detailed and is meant to be an internal document sent to your partners for their records. It can be multiple pages (mine are usually about 8-10) and include detailed screenshots of analytics for internal reporting purposes.
A case study is a summary of the highlights in the campaign report, and it’s public. You can use this in your marketing materials. I like to keep it to one or two pages max.
What to Include in a Creator Case Study
You can easily create a case study in Canva. Focus on these core metrics and story points:
1. Overview
Brand / campaign name
Dates of collaboration
Platform(s) used (TikTok, IG, YouTube, Substack, etc.)
Total deliverables (e.g. 3 videos, 2 stories, 1 newsletter mention)
2. Performance Metrics
These are the numbers brands actually care about:
✅ Total views
❤️ Likes
💬 Comments
🔁 Shares
📌 Saves
🔗 Click-throughs (if tracked via link in bio or affiliate)
📈 Follower growth or engagement spike
Bonus: If a post went viral or was picked up by press, include that too.
3. Impact
Did the brand get new followers? Leads? Sales?
Did someone comment: “I just booked because of you”? Screenshot it.
Did you make it to the top of a particular hashtag or search result?
4. Testimonial
Ask for 1–2 sentences from your contact. If you overdelivered, they’ll usually be happy to shout you out.
5. Visuals
Make it digestible. Use branded colors and drop in a quote bubble from a DM.
Why You Need Case Studies in 2025
You stand out from other creators pitching the same brand.
You justify your rate, especially if you're charging 4 figures or more.
You get rehired. Brands love repeat wins.
You attract inbound opportunities. Case studies show what’s possible with you on board.
As a bonus, I’m including a sample case study below for paid subscribers. I hope this was helpful, and come back every Tuesday for an in-depth industry post!
